The short verdict
DarLink AI is the cheapest published entry among the companion apps we compare, $12.99 a month for Essential, and the one whose cancellation rules disagree with themselves. The plan page prints every tier, coin batch and token cost (pricing verified 24 September 2026). The refund page then makes cancellation depend on “your written cancellation notice” reaching support, while the terms and the plan FAQ describe cancelling in settings. Good arithmetic, poor exit.
It probably suits you if:
- You want a cheap paid entry with public prices: $12.99 buys 6,000 messages and 100 coins, or about 50 pictures.
- You want video from a companion app and accept that its length is not published.
- You want tiered memory, Basic, Enhanced and Living, and are willing to pay $27.99 or more for the upper two.
- You pay by card, or by crypto once a year.
Look elsewhere if:
- You want a free tier. The plan page has none, and the homepage FAQ that promises an answer would not open.
- You want a clean exit. Cancel in settings and by email, then keep the confirmation.
- You want a refund after trying it: purchases are “final and non-refundable” beyond a discretionary 24 hours.
- You want your chats kept out of training: the privacy policy allows anonymised use, and there is no incognito mode.
What DarLink AI is: a Swiss companion app with an influencer tier
DarLink AI is “provided by FameLink SA”, with the footer address “2828 Montsevelier – Jura, Les Mengartes 37”, under Terms of Service last updated August 2025. You create or pick a companion, chat with it, request pictures and short videos, and use voice replies. Plans differ by message cap, coins, memory tier and roleplay tools: “Quick”, “Deep”, “Unlimited Roleplay creation” and an “Elite Roleplay Engine” on Ultimate.
One product line is unusual. Besides the “Standard Subscription” the terms describe an “Influencer-Specific Subscription: This plan gives you exclusive access to a specific AI Virtual Friend that is associated with a particular influencer or public figure”.
It is DarLink’s own licensed feature, not a user upload, and no price for it appears on the plan page. The terms also mention subscriptions bought through the Apple App Store and Google Play, so an app route exists; we used the website only.
DarLink AI pricing: $12.99, $27.99 and $49.99 a month
Three tiers are published at darlink.ai/plan-selection, with a Monthly, Quarterly (“SAVE 15%”) and Yearly (“SAVE 44%”) toggle. The monthly and yearly figures below are what the page showed on 24 September 2026; the quarterly grid did not hold long enough to read on either of our visits, so we quote no quarterly price.

Pricing verified 24 September 2026. Essential includes “6 voice options (standard)” and “Basic memory”; Advanced and Ultimate get “10 voice options (premium)”, “Fastest Messaging Time” and Enhanced or Living memory, which the plan FAQ defines as “a persistent and evolving memory that adapts over time”. The page also runs a countdown, “Offer ends in 10hrs 46min”. It showed the same number on 9 September and on 24 September, so it is decoration, not a deadline.
Price changes are covered in the terms. “If pricing changes apply to existing subscribers, we will provide you an opportunity to cancel if you do not agree to the new price.” Crypto is “only for annual plans and without auto-renewal”. That makes it the one way to buy DarLink without a recurring charge.
Is DarLink AI free? The plan page says no, the homepage says yes
The homepage title reads “DarLink AI: Free AI Girlfriend Generator”. The plan page lists three paid tiers and nothing else: no free plan, no trial, no card-free entry. The homepage FAQ carries the question “Is DarLink AI free?”, and on both of our readings, 9 and 24 September 2026, the accordion would not open, so we could not capture the company’s own answer.
We publish the plan page as the fact and the title as marketing. If you register and find a free account, its limits are not written anywhere we could read.
The nearest thing to a trial is the terms’ discretionary refund: “we may consider a refund or credit if a request is made within 24 hours of purchase and if you have made only minimal use of the Service”. That is a request, not a right, and it runs to [email protected], an address that differs from the [email protected] the refund page uses.
What a picture and a video cost
Every tier prices generation the same way: “Image generation (2 tokens)” and “Video generation (20 tokens)”. Divide the monthly coin batch and you get the real allowance, which the plan page never states as a number of pictures.

The cents column divides the monthly price by the picture allowance; on yearly billing it falls to about 20, 13 and 13 cents. Those are our sums, not DarLink’s.
Video length is not stated on the plan page or in the terms, and the terms decline to commit on coin expiry: credits “may or may not expire, as communicated at purchase”. Is DarLink AI safe? Rules, privacy and the influencer clause
The rulebook is in terms section 5.1. Banned outright: “any content involving the sexual depiction of minors”, “content depicting bestiality, rape or non-consensual sexual violence, or other forms of extreme sexual violence”, hate speech, doxxing, gore, self-harm encouragement and a catch-all for “objectionable content” at DarLink’s discretion.
The plan FAQ puts it shorter: NSFW is allowed “on all plans—as long as it follows our Terms of Use: legal, consensual content only, with no minors or forbidden themes. Any non-compliant requests are automatically blocked.” Reports are reviewed “typically within 48 hours”.
Real people are handled in two directions. Section 5.2 bars impersonating a real person “except when interacting with AI personas clearly labeled as such”, and the influencer subscription sells exactly such personas, licensed by DarLink. We found no upload-a-photo feature on the pages we read, so the rule we care about most, no third-party likenesses from user photos, is met by absence rather than by a clause.
Privacy is where to read slowly. The policy states “We store the content you create on DarLink, including text or voice messages and any images you send during chats”. It adds that “we might train our AI on anonymized conversation data”, and that partners “like Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel” set cookies.
Encryption is promised “in transit”; nothing is said about rest. There is no incognito or unsaved-chat mode. Chats are “private and are not shared with other users”, which is a narrower promise than private full stop.
Cancelling: settings or a written notice?
Three documents, two answers. The terms say to cancel “through account settings on the website, or by contacting support”, with access “until the end of your current paid term”. The plan FAQ agrees: “If you cancel, your access remains active until the end of the paid period.”
The Refund and Cancellation Policy, last updated August 2025, says instead that cancellation “takes effect once our customer support team receives your written cancellation notice”. The Reddit thread that ranks for the brand is titled “is darlink ai a scam?”. Its first question is “why does it require me to email them to cancel my subscription?”, so the confusion is not ours.
Our reading: do both. Cancel in settings, then email [email protected] with the account email and the date, and keep the reply. Subscriptions “auto-renew at the end of each billing cycle”, and “we will not refund any prepaid fees for the remaining days in your billing cycle”. If you subscribed through Apple or Google, cancel there: “deleting the DarLink account or app does NOT cancel the store subscription”.
Refunds and chargebacks
The rule is one sentence: “In general, all purchases and subscription fees are final and non-refundable.” The refund page then lists the exceptions. Refunded: “Fraudulent Charges”, in full; “Service Termination by DarLink” without cause, “a pro-rated refund for any remaining paid but unused portion”; and “Platform Errors”, as a refund or token credit.
Not refunded: “Accidental Purchases or Change of Mind”, because “Once tokens or subscription access are delivered to your account, the transaction is considered final”. Also excluded: “User Cancellations” and “Termination Due to Violations”, which covers “if you request your own account to be deleted”. Replies take “approximately 72 hours”.
One clause deserves reading twice before you dispute a charge with your bank. After a chargeback “we reserve the right to disclose all relevant account and communication records to the payment processor or bank”, and “This may include private messages or content you have sent/received through DarLink”. Ask support first; the chargeback route costs you privacy.
Deleting your account
Terms section 4.1 is blunt: “Deleting your account is permanent and irreversible”. It removes “your profile and all associated data (including your Virtual Friend configurations, chat history, and any other content)”. The privacy policy adds the usual residue: “some residual data, such as backup archives or records we’re legally required to keep, may remain for a period of time”, with no number attached. Deleting forfeits unused coins and any refund claim, and does not cancel an app-store subscription.
Paying: cards, crypto once a year, no PayPal, descriptor unknown
From the plan FAQ: “We accept all major payment methods. Credit/debit cards work for both monthly and annual subscriptions. Crypto payments are also available, but only for annual plans and without auto-renewal.” The footer shows Visa and Mastercard; PayPal is not mentioned anywhere. What appears on your statement is not published on the plan page, in the terms or in the privacy policy. That is a documented absence; if it matters, ask support in writing before the first charge.
DarLink AI vs Candy AI, and vs OurDream AI
Against Candy AI the difference is where the transparency sits. DarLink prints its prices and token costs on a public page and gives you no real refund route; Candy AI hides its prices inside signup and gives most buyers a 24-hour refund window (its pages read 9 September 2026).
Both ban minors and non-consensual content; Candy AI’s rulebook on real people is the stricter one in writing. If you want to know the price before registering, DarLink; if you want a way back out, Candy AI.
Against OurDream AI, which prices a picture at 5 coins and a month at 1,000 coins ($19.99, read 17 September 2026), DarLink’s Essential is $7 cheaper and buys a quarter of the pictures: 50 against about 200.

What we did not check
We did not create an account, subscribe, generate a picture or a video, test memory or voices, or open the mobile apps, so we make no claim about output quality or video length. We did not read the 2257 or DMCA pages.
The Trustpilot profile showed 11 reviews on 24 September 2026, too few to summarise, so we quote no score. We could not confirm a free tier from DarLink’s own pages, so we do not call it freemium. If we buy a month, this page gets a first-hand section and screenshots.

Take DarLink AI at $12.99 for one month if you want the cheapest published entry with video included and you can live with 50 pictures. Pay by card monthly, not yearly, until you have seen the video length and tested the memory tier you actually want.
On the day you decide to leave, cancel in settings and by email, and do not rely on a refund, because the policy does not offer one. If exit terms matter more than entry price, OurDream AI is the safer month.
