What it is: the generator, the chat and the company behind it

Promptchan is a web service for adults with three parts: an image generator, a video generator and AI companions to chat with. Its About page calls it “an uncensored AI platform”, and the home page title sells it as “AI Girlfriend Chat, Video & Images”.

Everything runs on Gems, the credits that generations spend: a free daily allowance for every account and a monthly one on paid plans.

What you can make, and how the chat works

You describe a character or a scene, pick a look from photorealistic to illustrated, and generate; a result can then be edited or animated. Companions come from the Discover feed, and Pro lets you build your own.

The chat has two modes: Chat, which “feels like texting”, and Story, where you direct a scene “one chapter at a time”. Characters can speak in a chosen voice, take live calls and, with “Create image from scene”, turn the moment into a picture.

Who runs it: VisionAI Labs Limited in Dublin

The Terms of Service, last updated 6 August 2025, name VisionAI Labs Limited, registered at The Black Church, St. Mary’s Place, Dublin, and put the agreement under Irish law. Ireland’s company register lists it as company 754145, a private limited company registered on 15 December 2023, with status Normal and a latest annual return dated 15 June 2026.

The brand is older than the company: its .com domain dates from October 2022. The service moved from promptchan.ai to promptchan.com in a change announced on 4 February 2025, and on 6 October 2026 the old address did not resolve (registry status serverHold).

Promptchan pricing: Plus, Premium, Pro and Gem packs

Monthly prices are public; yearly billing and a paid Pro trial exist, but their amounts are not shown before sign-in.

PlanPer monthGems a monthWhat it adds
Free$0A daily allowance, size not shown before sign-inPictures, chat and the public gallery, no card
Plus$14.99100HD pictures, basic poses and styles, 2× chat usage
Premium$23.99400More poses and styles, 5× chat usage
Pro$33.99800, plus unlimited casual generationsFull-length video and Extend, voice calls, custom characters, 4K, unlimited chat

Pricing verified 6 October 2026 on the plans page (USD in its markup), from a visit tagged as Cyprus; other countries’ prices were not checked, and promotions appear “from time to time” at checkout.

Divided by the Gems they include, the plans cost about 15 cents a Gem on Plus, 6 cents on Premium and 4.2 cents on Pro. Pro also lists “Unlimited Casual Generations”; the plan fine print in the site code defines them as “unlimited, slower image generations” at Standard quality, one image at a time, that “may be unavailable at busy times”.

Bar chart of what one Gem costs on each Promptchan plan, from the plans page read on 6 October 2026: Plus at $14.99 a month with 100 Gems works out to 15 cents a Gem, Premium at $23.99 with 400 Gems to 6 cents, and Pro at $33.99 with 800 Gems plus unlimited casual generations to 4.2 cents
Pro costs about 2.3 times as much as Plus and includes 8 times the Gems.

Yearly billing and the Pro trial

Both are documented, without amounts. The Refund Policy, updated 12 August 2026, covers annual plans, billed as “one annual payment” with Gems “credited monthly across the year”, per checkout text in the site code. The trial text sets a price for some days of Pro, then a first-month price; neither figure is shown to a logged-out visitor.

Gem packs: the price of extra Gems

Packs cost extra, and paid plans get “50% off buying additional Gems”. These prices come from the Gems page code, because the page draws its packs by script.

PackPricePer GemWith a plan
50 Gems$4.9910.0¢$2.49
250 Gems$14.996.0¢$7.49
900 Gems$29.993.3¢$14.99
1,800 Gems$59.993.3¢$29.99
3,000 Gems$99.993.3¢$49.99
10,000 Gems$299.993.0¢$149.99

Past 900 Gems a bigger pack stops paying off: 900, 1,800 and 3,000 all work out to 3.3 cents a Gem, and only the 10,000 pack drops to 3.0. With a plan, the 900 pack costs $14.99, about 1.7 cents a Gem.

Bar chart of Promptchan Gem pack prices per Gem from the Gems page code read on 6 October 2026: 50 Gems for $4.99 is 10 cents a Gem, 250 for $14.99 is 6 cents, 900 for $29.99, 1,800 for $59.99 and 3,000 for $99.99 are each 3.3 cents, and 10,000 for $299.99 is 3 cents; paid plans pay half, down to 1.5 cents a Gem on the largest pack
With a plan, the 10,000-Gem pack works out to 1.5 cents a Gem, a tenth of the Plus rate.

What a Gem buys

The API reference sets a picture at a base of 1 Gem, adding that “’Extreme’ quality costs 1 extra Gem, and ‘Max’ quality costs 2 extra Gems”. Voice costs 1 Gem a message and 2 a call; the plan card lists voice calls under Pro, yet the chat guide says voice “costs Gems rather than sitting behind a plan”.

Chat is priced two ways. The API page bills a message “at the website’s gem price — 0.4 Gems on v2.5 Pro, 0.2 on v2.5 Fast”. The chat guide says that after the free messages, “messages cost a gem or two depending on the model”. The plan table in the site code sets free chat at “20 messages / 3 hrs”, Plus at 40 and Premium at 100, and Pro’s unlimited chat “is subject to fair-use rate limits”.

The free plan: daily Gems, no card

The free plan needs no card. The plans page promises “a daily allowance of free Gems” for pictures and chat, but its size is not shown before sign-in. Free generations wait in a separate queue, and private generation needs a paid plan.

The Earn Gems page adds a daily claim “with a big bonus on day 7” and one-time bonuses for social follows or a Trustpilot review. Its messages pull two ways: daily Gems “still reset every day”, yet another line says they “have run out for good”.

The Promptchan app: discontinued, with the browser instead

The plans page still lists “Web, iOS and Android”, but the app’s own site, promptaiapp.com, linked from the brand’s markup, says “The iOS and Android apps have been discontinued”. Store searches on 6 October 2026 (App Store US and UK for Promptchan, PromptAI and VisionAI Labs; Google Play US for Promptchan) found no app from VisionAI Labs.

The same notice says the APK “is no longer distributed”, so an APK offered on another site is not an official build. App accounts, Gems and plans carry over to the website with the same email. The site also ships a web-app manifest set to “standalone”, which lets a phone browser add it to the home screen.

If you subscribed in the old app, check that store too: a store subscription “keeps renewing until it is cancelled in that store”, even when the website shows no active plan.

Images, video and Tweak: what the generator does

The generator turns a written description into a picture: pick a style, set the pose and framing, list what to leave out in a negative prompt and choose a quality tier. Anything in the public gallery, which the About page counts at “Over 20 million images and videos”, can be cloned with its settings.

Tweak edits a finished result from a short instruction instead of starting over; the guide’s advice is to keep it “short and specific”. Upscaling and 4K output are listed for Pro.

Video: from text or from a picture made on the site

A clip starts from a text description or from a still generated on the site, with optional AI sound, and Extend continues it. “Full-length AI videos, including extend, are part of the Pro plan”, says the plans page.

The base clip length is not published; the upgrade screen in the site code says Extend adds “5.8 seconds at a time, up to 5 times”. Each clip’s Gem cost shows “right on the video button” before you commit, per the video guide.

Unsaved work does not last. Pictures and clips that are not downloaded or published are removed after 24 hours and, per the help page, “cannot be recovered”.

Promptchan upload image rules: own photos and real people

The help page answers the upload question directly: “No. You cannot upload your own photos, use a real person’s face, import images made in other tools, or upload custom models”. Animate and image-to-video “only work on images generated here on Promptchan”, a rule the page calls “a safety and legal-compliance limit rather than a plan restriction”, so no plan lifts it.

The one exception is Custom Pose on Pro: the interface describes an uploaded picture as a pose reference for a generated character and refuses it when moderation “can’t confirm it’s appropriate under our Terms of Service”.

The Terms ban “Any depiction or impersonation of celebrities, public figures, or private individuals without consent” and content that infringes anyone’s privacy or publicity rights without “explicit and verifiable consent”. The DMCA policy adds: “We prohibit the creation of images featuring real individuals and take steps to remove such content proactively”.

The Content Moderation Policy, updated 10 September 2025, says AI systems “scan prompts, outputs, and uploads”, and it lists “Non-consensual deepfake or intimate imagery” among banned content. If something on the site depicts you, the help page names the content removal form as the fastest route, and the removal page aims to respond “within 48 hours”.

Is Promptchan safe? Operator, age checks, privacy and billing

On paper it is a registered Irish company with dated terms, a written moderation policy and a 30-day refund window. The weak spots are elsewhere: an unnamed statement line, private pictures only on paid plans, and an unclaimed Trustpilot profile while the site rewards reviews with Gems.

The 18+ rule and age checks

The Terms require users to be at least 18, and an entry notice asks visitors to confirm it. Generated characters “are intended to be over the age of 18”, says the Terms’ disclaimer, and the API’s age slider starts at 18.

A Safe Mode switch hides adult content. In some regions, turning it off first takes an age check, which the interface says is “handled securely by our partner Didit”.

Privacy: who sees your pictures and chats

Chats are “always private to your account”, the help page says. Pictures are different: private generation, which keeps creations out of the public gallery, comes only with paid plans.

That also decides reuse rights. Under the Terms, content made in public mode gives the company a “perpetual, irrevocable, and transferable license”, including for promotion; in private or offline mode it asserts no rights. The generator’s FAQ simply says you own what you create.

The privacy policy, updated 2 October 2026, names Google Analytics and Google Ads, keeps a first-party visitor identifier for 13 months and holds personal data “as long as necessary”. In the EU, EEA and UK, those trackers wait for cookie consent.

Billing: what shows on your statement

No page or document read names the line that appears on a card statement. The site code points to the processor instead: card purchases go to a CentroBill endpoint, and the help page’s “Cancel via payment provider” button opens centrohelp.eu, a CentroBill site.

Crypto runs through NOWPayments and Gem keys are sold on G2A, with receipts from those providers. Card plans renew automatically; crypto and G2A buy “a fixed period subscription”, per the Terms.

Promptchan reviews on Trustpilot: 4.4 from 187, and Gems for a rating

On 6 October 2026 the promptchan.com profile showed 4.4 from 187 reviews, 69% of them five-star and 8% one-star. Trustpilot labels it an “Unclaimed profile” and warns: “This company hasn’t invited their customers, so reviews may not be representative”.

The asking happens on the site instead. Among the Earn Gems bonuses in the site code is “Rate us on Trustpilot”, whose steps include “Leave a positive review”, and the interface calls a review “The easiest way to earn Gems now”. Read the score with that in mind.

The 2026 one-star reviews are mostly about bugs and blocked prompts; two are about billing. One (5 June) says the service “continues to charge subscription fees” despite bugs, one (15 May) alleges “double-charging”, and two (28 January) say Pro features were switched off and harmless prompts blocked. One (11 May) objects that the company “offers benefits for reviewing”.

Cancelling, refunds and deleting the account

Cancel in Settings, ask for a refund only if you have barely used the service, and cancel before deleting the account.

Cancelling

Open Settings and press Cancel next to your plan; it stays active to the end of the paid period. No Cancel button means the plan was bought elsewhere: cancel in the App Store or Google Play, or through the payment provider with your checkout email and card details, which works without signing in.

Two traps are written into the site’s own text. Buying a second plan “starts a new subscription — it does not replace or refund the one you already have”, and cancelling a paid trial forfeits its unused Gems. Other Gems stay: the cancellation text says you keep them “forever”.

Refunds: 30 days, if the service was barely used

The Refund Policy, updated 12 August 2026, allows refunds “within 30 days of the purchase date” to subscribers who have not used “any significant AI services”, a threshold it does not quantify. Annual plans get the same window from each charge. Cancel first, then email the charge date, order ID and reason; processing aims at 7 business days.

Gem purchases are “not normally refundable”, even unspent, and crypto payments are “final and non-refundable”. For App Store, Google Play and NOWPayments purchases, the help page sends refund requests to those platforms, although the Refund Policy calls crypto payments final. Email support before any chargeback: “Accounts linked to a chargeback are permanently restricted”.

Deleting the account

Delete Account sits at the bottom of Settings. The help page calls deletion “immediate and permanent”, while the confirmation dialog in the site code says the account is disabled at once and “permanently deleted after 30 days”, with “Restore My Account” available until then. Either way generations, chats and purchase history go, and Gems cannot move to another account.

Deleting does not cancel a subscription, and the Cancel button disappears with the account; the screen for a deleted account links “Subscribed? Cancel Plan” to centrohelp.eu.

Promptchan alternatives: three picks and what each does differently

All three are recommended in the site’s wider guides.

  • OurDream AI prices every action in coins, such as 5 coins for an in-chat image, and shows its yearly plan upfront at $119.88 billed once ($9.99 a month); reference-photo uploads are blocked outright (verified 9 September 2026; OurDream AI review).
  • Candy AI puts voice, chat, images and video on one token pool; refunds run 24 hours from payment, plus a 14-day withdrawal right in the EU and UK, but its prices are not published (verified 9 September 2026; Candy AI review).
  • Lovescape shows its plans to visitors, including Premium at $95.88 a year and a one-time Ultra plan at $399.60, and its help centre says “Real-person replication is not supported” (checked 24 September 2026; Lovescape review).

The wider field is lined up in the comparison of AI adult-content sites and on the AI tools hub.

What was not checked, and where the facts come from

No Promptchan account was opened and nothing was bought. Picture and video quality, the checkout, the size of the free allowance, yearly and trial prices, the statement line, how strictly the filters work and how often casual generations are actually available are therefore unseen.

This review is built from the operator’s public pages and documents, read logged out on 6 October 2026, plus page code where the rendered page showed nothing. Documents and their dates: Terms of Service (6 August 2025), Refund Policy (12 August 2026), Privacy Policy (2 October 2026), Content Moderation Policy (10 September 2025), Content Removal (25 June 2024), DMCA policy (1 February 2024).

Frequently asked questions

What is Promptchan AI?

It is an 18+ web service at promptchan.com that turns written descriptions into pictures and short videos and offers AI companions to chat with, all paid in Gems. VisionAI Labs Limited of Dublin runs it, and every account starts on a free daily allowance.

Is Promptchan legit?

A registered Irish company, VisionAI Labs Limited (company 754145), runs it under dated terms with a 30-day refund window. Legit is not trouble-free: 2026 one-star Trustpilot reviews describe bugs, blocked prompts and double charges, and the site pays Gems for Trustpilot reviews while its profile there is unclaimed.

Is Promptchan free?

Yes, to start: a daily allowance of Gems for pictures and chat, no card needed, though its size is not shown before sign-in. Free generations queue separately, private pictures need a paid plan, and one message warns daily Gems can run out for good.

How much do the plans cost?

On 6 October 2026 Plus cost $14.99 a month with 100 Gems, Premium $23.99 with 400 and Pro $33.99 with 800 plus unlimited casual generations. Gem packs run from 50 for $4.99 to 10,000 for $299.99, half price with a plan. Yearly and trial prices stay hidden before sign-in.

Is there an app for iPhone or Android?

Not any more. The app’s own site says the iOS and Android apps have been discontinued and the APK is no longer distributed, and store searches on 6 October 2026 found none from VisionAI Labs. Promptchan runs in a phone browser and can sit on the home screen.

Can I upload my own image to Promptchan?

No. The help page rules out uploading your own photos, images made in other tools or custom models, as well as any use of a real person’s likeness, and no plan changes that. Animate works only on pictures generated on the site, and the Terms ban depicting real people without consent.

How do I cancel a subscription?

Press Cancel next to your plan in Settings; the plan runs to the end of the paid period. With no Cancel button, it was bought elsewhere: cancel in the App Store or Google Play, or with the card payment provider. Deleting the account does not cancel the subscription, so cancel first.

Bottom line

Promptchan is an adult creation suite on one Gem balance, run by a registered Dublin company, with public monthly prices. The catches are in cost visibility and billing: hidden yearly and trial prices, chat priced two ways and an unnamed card descriptor.

It suits you if:

  • You want pictures, video and a chat companion in one account, and Pro’s video and custom characters are worth paying for.
  • You want to try before paying: the free plan needs no card.
  • You pay by card or crypto and can live with a statement line nobody has published.

Look elsewhere if:

  • You want every action priced in advance: OurDream AI publishes its list.
  • You want a yearly price in view before signing up: Lovescape shows one.
  • You need a phone app from a store, which no longer exists.

Try the free plan first, check the final price at checkout, and set a reminder before the first renewal.
